NFTs have rapidly emerged as a tool for artists and musicians to exhibit, promote, sell and support their work, but with this infrastructure comes risks, implications, and barriers to entry which serve as gatekeepers. Digital Skin - Avatars and pop stars

Wednesday, 23 June

6-7:30pm CEST

12-1:30pm EST

Avatars have long been used as a means of expression, from chat room display pictures to modular RPG characters. In the face of a global pandemic this expression has expanded, crossing borders and creating shared space which have otherwise been severely restricted. How can these freedoms propose new support structures and economic models for a music industry in disrepair?

Approaching this question from an interdisciplinary perspective, this discussion seeks to understand the scope of avatar technology as both art form and interstitial tool supporting expression and sustenance.

Panellists include:

Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, artist
Klypi, musician
Stacie Ant, new media artist
